Minnesota State Council of Machinists Endorses Trina Swanson For Congress

Industrial trade union representing thousands of members announces support for Swanson ahead of November election

Hermantown, MN (October 6, 2026)— Trina Swanson’s campaign for Congress today announced the endorsement of the Minnesota State Council of Machinists, a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), one of North America’s largest industrial trade unions.

“Trina comes from a Union household, and she was a longtime AFGE Union Member. She understands what is important to the needs of many working families across our state. It’s time to remind Congress who really cares about the working class,” said Andrew Peltier, Director of Organizing, Minnesota State Council of Machinists. “I believe that Trina is the right person for this job, that is why she will get my vote this November.”

Representing over 5,400 workers throughout Minnesota, members include those working in manufacturing, aerospace, transportation, railroads, airlines, automotive repair, woodworking, and federal service.

“The Machinists represent a critical sect of workers across Minnesota, and I am honored to have earned their endorsement,” said Trina Swanson. “Growing up with union-employed parents and as a longtime union member myself, I know the difference unions make for working families. I’m proud to stand with the Machinists in fighting for good-paying jobs, safe workplaces, affordable healthcare, and a secure retirement. In Congress, I’ll work to protect the right to organize and ensure working people have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.”

In addition to the Minnesota State Council of Machinists, the campaign has also announced support from U.S. Senator Tina Smith, Congresswomen Betty McCollum and Kelly Morrison, EMILYs List, the Minnesota AFL-CIO, Feminist Majority, Immigrants’ List, the Committee to Protect Health Care, the DFL and its Senior, Rural, and Veteran’s Caucuses, the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees, Save the Boundary Waters Action Fund, Women Winning, We Are Rising and Resisting Indivisible group, Iron Range Indivisible, Bemidji Indivisible, Duluth Indivisible, Education Minnesota, and community and union leaders across the region.
