Education Minnesota Endorses Trina Swanson For Congress

Leading voice for nearly 85,000 professional educators and students supports DFL Candidate in MN-8 race

Hermantown, MN (September 29, 2026)— Trina Swanson’s campaign for Congress announced today an endorsement from Education Minnesota, the leading advocate for public education in Minnesota. Representing 84,000-plus members that work in pre-K – 12 school and higher education institutions statewide, the organization announced support for Swanson alongside other congressional candidates in other districts.

“Trina Swanson walked away from a career in Washington rather than compromise her values, and that’s exactly the integrity Minnesota needs in Congress,” said Monica Byron, president of Education Minnesota. “Educators trust Trina Swanson to put students and public schools first.”

The endorsement follows interviews by educators from the 8th district. The recommendations were accepted or approved by the political action committees of the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association. Swanson supports collective bargaining rights and opposes private school vouchers. If elected, she will fight to protect and expand Medicaid eligibility, particularly for low-income people, people with disabilities and those with chronic illnesses.  Swanson is a graduate of Minnesota public schools.

“I’m honored to receive Education Minnesota’s endorsement and proud to stand with the educators who inspire, support, and open doors for students across our state,” said Trina Swanson. “This endorsement reflects our shared commitment to strong public schools, respected and supported education professionals, and a future where every Minnesota student can succeed.”

The endorsement from Education Minnesota joins a growing list of organizations that have announced their support for Swanson’s campaign including Indivisible, EMILYs List, MN AFL-CIO, Feminist Majority, Immigrants’ List, Senator Tina Smith, Congresswoman Betty McCollum, the Committee to Protect Health Care, the DFL, the DFL Senior, Rural, and Veterans Caucuses, the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees, Save the Boundary Waters Action Fund, Women Winning, We Are Rising and Resisting Indivisible group, and community and union leaders across the region.

As she approaches election day, Swanson continues her focus on healthcare, labor, affordability, economic security, environmental protection, and strong public service, and those who believe Minnesota deserves present representation in Washington.
